In this video we are going to show you a relatively simple way to make a chipping and driving platform for hitting golf balls in your backyard. This is part one, and we will just be making the platform covered in outdoor carpet/turf in this video. Stay tuned for more videos in which we install it permanently in the backyard and add a driving range style tee for using your driver.
Materials needed for this project:
1 – 3/4″ x 4′ x 8′ sheet of plywood
6 – 2 x 4 x 8′
1 – 4′ x 12′ piece of outdoor carpet/turf of your choosing – Most big box stores will have a few different types to choose from (you really only need a 4′ x 6′ piece, but it is typically sold in 12′ lengths. I also didn’t want to cut a smaller piece in half and have a seam in the center of the platform to worry about)
3 – tubes of outdoor construction/carpet adhesive
1 – box of 3″ outdoor construction screws
1 – box of 2″ construction screws
1 – (at least one) Golfer who wants to practice more!
***If you want to check out the foam golf balls that we practice with in the backyard you can check them out in the link below. These work really great for tracking spin and flight path, and there easy to see for pick up***
